Review of The Missing Picture (2013) by Matt G — 10 Feb 2015
Cambodia's Khmer Rouge atrocities are, themselves, like a picture missing in time, a piece of history rarely spoken of. This film is trying to fill in these facts through still-form clay creations with a beautiful aesthetic of which I've never really seen before.
It captures the brains, heart, time and skill it takes to create and sustain life vs. the cowardice and laziness with which one can destroy it. While neither as good nor as heavy as "The Act of Killing", it has that same feel: a burdensome yet important film.
