This film is very suspect, yet one is inclined to keep watching. An adult guy and his parents watching nudie films? Sure. But then to bring the carnival gal home with them?! Kray-kray(zee).

The thing about symbolism and the space/time continuim added in with a post war present day flashing back to those war days with the same people lends an iron clad mystic appeal. The lush sceney was once bland and the echo of bullet ridden hollowness is stark, instead of a circus of color and harmonious tones as the audience is seeing it. Now when you combine all the confusion about their guest and her heritage, well it is something riveting. They think she is a film star and plan to make her feel a bit awkward. What they get in return is nothing short of real life itself- murphy style mocking and a fine gypsy schooling; resulting in high society getting the time money can't possibly buy for all the ha-ha ha Karmic lessons a dispensation and Universe can pack in one magical wallop.
