Review of The Forgiveness of Blood (2011) by Gary M — 19 Oct 2012
A well acted and well directed movie that depicts a teenager trapped by old world customs. In a small Albanian town, Nik is pretty much the same as teenagers everywhere. He has a crush on a pretty girl in his class and his days revolve around cell phones , facebook, and parties.
All that changes when his father kills a man in a land dispute. His family now owes a blood debt to the victimâ(TM)s family. The debt can only be repaid by the killing of a male member of Nikâ(TM)s family and all males who are not children are targets.
The story moves along at a slow boil until the final confrontation and the acting of the two leads (who are not professionals) is excellent and naturalistic.
