Review of The Fluffy Movie (2014) by Greg B — 25 Jul 2014
"The Fluffy Movie" was one that I entered knowing nothing about Gabriel Iglesias or his comedy. I was pleasantly surprised, to say the least. Iglesias is funny, for sure, but his humor comes from the heart and is genuine.
Even though most comics rely on personal anecdotes to feed their comedic arsenal, Iglesias really doesn't twist or embellish and it's through his authenticity that his comedy becomes tangible.
The humor flows naturally from his gags, and even his impersonations feel well-timed and fluid. The movie is taken from one of his stand-up routines in San Francisco, and Iglesias really delivers. He is the average guy that anyone can relate to, and he brings a remarkable humility to the stage despite his fame and ubiquitous popularity.
Unlike many comedians, Iglesias doesn't sell out for the cheap laugh or overly revert to vulgarity to resonate with the audience. Iglesias' brand of comedy is highly relatable and makes him a sheer pleasure to watch ------------------------------------ B+.
