Review of The Delinquent Season (2018) by Douglas J — 13 Jul 2018
I anticipated this film with a quickened heart and bated breath; but, was left... unfulfilled, wanting, and... angry. The leads clearly hated each other; and, whomever wrote the script had no clue how to bring their forbidden, adulterous love to the screen, had no idea of the intense passion that takes you over once the seal is broken.
The second dinner party, Jim helping Yvonne with bringing the dishes into the kitchen, with her back turned, he, running a finger tip down her neck, while all she wants to do is give in but can't, eyes closed, head to the side, gasping for air.
...that is how it should have been done. Either intense abandon or trite sex, one or the other but you can't skate down the middle; and, for the life of me, I could not find one single them anywhere.
I wanted this film to break my heart, and the only moment that did was when her hand touched his.
