Review of The Daughter (2015) by Sandra T — 03 Apr 2016
A little disappointing. I felt that Sam Neil and Geoffrey Rush were hampered by a script that was a bit low key and predictable at times. Anna Torv and Miranda Otto were outstanding and Paul Schneider did well with a character that was a bit of a cliche.
Camera work was good but the whole appearance of the film was gloomy/dreary when in fact the bush scenes should have been glorious. Every Australian knows guns should be kept locked up with limited access, that was handled in a clumsy manner when in fact it was key to audience empathy with the script.
