I was initially disappointed that it really doesn't have anything to do with Downers Grove in Illinois. I noticed mountains in the background and also looked up that it was indeed filmed far from Illinois in California.
The town does not look like or really resemble Downers Grove in any way. Aside from that, the plot is completely ridiculous and made it unintentionally funny at times. I did find it to be a watchable thriller though, so it isn't nearly as bad as the flak it is getting would suggest.
It's a decent teen horror movie with suspense. (First and only viewing - 1/1/2017).
