Review of The Conspiracy (2012) by Tom M — 05 Sep 2013
For a low budget independent film, this is quite an achievement. The premise quickly hooked me in talking about the potential of a secret organization running the world behind closed doors. Whether you believe such organizations exist or not, "The Conspiracy" provides enough evidence supporting it's statements to make it believable in the film, which in turn creates more intrigue and mystery as the two main characters begin to slowly connect everything together into something fairly unsettling.
Where the film begins to suffer is the second half, where (without giving anything away) the film begins shooting is a found footage-esque way that, while did increase the effectiveness in some scenes, did not add anything special to the movie at all.
In fact, by using this shooting method it took me out of the experience a bit. Overall, I was really impressed by "The Conspiracy" and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good mystery thriller.
