Review of The Cake Eaters (2007) by Amanda K — 29 Mar 2009
This was a very sweet little film about two families dealing with stressful situations and how they interact with one another through the hard times. Kristen Stewart is amazing! I was very pleasantly surprised by her performance as a disabled teen who is trying to live her life to its fullest despite her fatal illness.
She does a wonderful job portraying the physical aspects of Friedreich's ataxia, yet the emotions of her character are truly moving and the most compelling part of the film. This is an Indie film that hits the mark! It is not over the top and is simply telling the story of life, love and loss without the melodrama.
