Review of The Birth of a Nation (1915) by Tyler L — 19 Jul 2009
1915's Birth of a Nation follows the journey of two families (One North, One South) and their history thoughout the Civil War. While the Klan ultimatly ends as the heros of the film, the film is a genuis first in epic filmaking. A whomping three hour silent film may be tidious nowadays, but if your up to it and you get where its coming from it should be embraced as one of the origins of epic cinema.
I bought the film, but I believe it is on public domain as well (No Charge), defenently worth a peek at. Truly a landmark film.
DVD STATUS: Criterian Or Public Domain, worth the $30, but its also free (minus the extras and the cool case).
