Review of The Big Bird Cage (1972) by Doctor S — 21 Jan 2012
Jack Hill shot this as a spoof of the genre, though it is every bit as cruel as others have been. The truly off-putting thing for me was seeing Pam Grier and Sid Haig as lovers, which just a jump that my mind kinda refused to accept.
The giant sugar mill 'bird cage' is an interesting set piece, and I enjoyed learning that it was designed by Hill's father.
Recommended.
