Review of The Art of the Steal (2010) by John M — 31 May 2010
Both this and "The Cove" have really re-defined the "caper movie" for me, because that's what this is, really. Barnes goes to considerable lengths to give a well-defended "STFU" to entrenched Philly power, and the power brokers in Philly break that down and make off with billions in broad daylight with everyone patting them on the back.
Deduct half a point for lazy Philip Glass tunes for your soundtrack, but otherwise you have an amazing story here, tightly constructed. At the end you will want to retch at the audacity of those assholes, but you'll also be thinking how sweet it would be to go see it when it opens in a couple years.
