Review of Tetro (2009) by Pappas K — 28 Feb 2010
Coppola filming once more as an out of time maverick, tireless of trying new things (unlike the rest of his generation). Set in a black and white Buenos Aires ( echoing Sabato's "On heroes and tombs"), filled with unconventional narrative and visual tricks, he tells the story of two brothers and a "Godfather" like family patriarch.
Gallo is enigmatic as always, Verdu decisive and sexy and Ehrenreich has the smile of a potential star (Di Caprio anyone) but his acting skills reminded me of the master's daughter in Godfather III.
Brandauer doesn't have enough space to unfold his commanding presence.
