Review of Tarantula (1955) by Georgy W — 05 Sep 2008
I like how the one girl in the movie is all over that guy by the last few dramatic scenes, like they're totally together or something. LOL The whole time the guy's just posing and looking off dramatically into the expanses of the desert.
This movie is not very good in my opinion, even by 50's sci-fi standards...it's ok, but not something I'd watch again and again. There's no genuine fear or logic or anything. Just over-the-top cheesy characters like a mad scientist who just happens to have a British accent (what the heck?), western sheriff and cops with cowboy hats saying stuff like 'Holy Cow' and 'Jumping Jupiter!' when they get a load of the giant Tarantula.
'Invasion of the Body Snatchers', 'It Came from Outer Space', and 'Invaders from Mars' are much better 50's films, if you want to see good 50's sci-fi.
