Review of Tab Hunter Confidential (2015) by Mark M — 19 Jun 2015
Brilliant and moving new documentary from Producer Allan Glaser with Jeffrey Schwarz directing based on an equally compelling book written by Tab Hunter with Eddie Muller. He tells his story in person in this well researched film with wit, honesty and a humility that is such a part of this talented man's character.
He survived all the season's fame and its extreme temperatures offered without losing his dignity and focus. He remained undaunted by being closeted due to societies "norms" of the period when he was the "sigh guy" for Warner Brother's in the rigid 1950's.
The documentary is a fresh look at "the studio system" and cleverly shows not just how this star was created, but how he also became a gifted actor whose performances remain memorable and timeless.
