Review of Swing Vote (1999) by Ashley R — 18 Sep 2009
I do believe that this movie was commissioned to encourage people to vote and to be honest I think it was probably successful.
Certainly I felt it dealt with peoples apathy and feelings towards elections really well in a very child friendly (PG-13) way.
It was so good to see Kevin Costner in an meaty role again and I believe he played the role of redneck Bud very successfully.
The real star of the show was Madeline Carroll whose charisma certainly added depth to what was on the face of it a very simple movie.
Verdict- a excellent family comedy that provides laughs for adults and older children alike but suffers from a little of 'god bless america syndrome'. 4 stars.
