Review of Super Mario Bros. (1993) by Keith M — 25 Apr 2011
Easily the greatest video game adaptation ever filmed and one of the best fantasy action movies of the 90s. It's that kind of edge of your seat entertainment rarely seen any more. Dennis Hopper is a brilliantly three dimensional villain with some of the best work of his career.
Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo make for one of the best screen duos of all time. The effects are spectacular and haven't aged since its release. The story of the princess and the lost society of dinosaur people is among the most awe-inspiring and beautifully tragic yarns in the last 50 years.
The creativity at work has not been truly equaled since. Something must be said of side-splitting comedy with more flair and variety than all the Police Academy movies put together! An American classic indeed!
