Review of Super Dark Times (2017) by Clayton W — 05 Jan 2018
Super Dark Times is a movie that surprises because it does not rely on the violence surrounding a crime, or the obvious trauma from it, to generate a reaction. In its place, it makes you wonder about the nature of friendship, a human relation that is actually chosen by the subjects that participate on it, a decision.
Mentioning the theme like that makes it seem bland, but it is not. What happens when the person you rely on the most, the one you can trust with all your secrets, and moreover, the one with whom you enjoy your time the most, ends up becoming a psycho killer? The movie raises a lot of questions surrounding one's own identity, which, ultimately, we get to understand, those are the most puzzling kinds of questions.
