Review of Sunshine Cleaning (2008) by Johannes S — 18 Jan 2010
A man in a suit walks into a gun store with a 12 gauge shotgun slug tucked away in his shirt pocket and asks to see a shotgun. He gets one, turns around, loads it and flips the barrel up- but you'll have to watch it for the rest ;).
"Sunshine Cleaning" was such a pleasant surprise! Just when I thought I was out of movies to watch on our VOD (Video On Demand), I came across this little gem. You know the type that flies under the radar, straight to DVD type thing- such a appreciable film!
Amy Adams plays a struggling single mother trying to piece back her burdensome life. With the help of her sister, she starts a "company doing biohazard removal and crime scene cleanup.".
I first saw Amy Adams in "Julie & Julia" but she really shines in this one. A very commendable performance; genuine and heartfelt. Along with other strong characters and a great storyline, it's no wonder I was hooked.
