Review of Sunset Song (2015) by John Y — 10 Nov 2016
A true epic. Beautiful and brutal this is a basically intimate story of a young woman's struggles in a remote part of Scotland on the cusp of the First World War. The photography is stunning and is almost a character in its own right.
The performances are first rate and make you feel part of the daily life of the characters. There is a grandeur about the film that is almost poetic.
