Review of Strike Up the Band (1940) by Tim J — 30 Jun 2007
One of my most favorite and probably the least-viewed MGM musicals. It's a feel-good high school type musical. You can't get any better teen sweethearts than Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney. The final version of 'Our Love Affair' is very good with full orchestra and harps.
The final scenes hint at slight patriotism with an American Flag and formal naval-style band uniforms. PLUS Paul Whiteman himself. Can't get any better.
