Review of Stranger Than Fiction (2000) by Kristi M — 29 Aug 2013
This movie is one of my all time favorites and I do own it. The whole approach to the character study with a narrator writing a story about an actual living person hearing the narration is brilliant. Will Ferrell is still funny but in a charming way and I think he was meant to play this role.
I love the narrator's dry sarcasm (for example saying her cigarettes came pre smoked when asked if she smoked them all) Then you mix Dustin Hoffman as literary expert helping Harold along the way that causes Harold to live his life and fall in love and still face what's coming at the end when he knows what's going to happen.
..and watching it you're not sure if the ending will change from what was written- really, it could have ended either way and still been good.
