Review of Splitting Heirs (1993) by Sushma S — 29 Jun 2008
I remember really liking this film when I was about 15, probably because someone said 'fuck' in it. Now watching it again after about 10 years, it really hasn't aged well.
A vanity project for Idle, who obviously wanted to recreate the success of fellow Python John Cleese's Fish Called Wanda. Unfortunately the jokes are lame with Moranis, Hershey and Zeta Jones doing their best with a terrible script.
The only parts that do come off well are the more surreal elements, the Hindi dream sequence and the pool filter attacking Moranis. Apart from that and Cleese's 'wink wink, nudge nudge' nod to Python, its all a bit rubbish.
