Review of Sophie Scholl: The Final Days (2005) by Eric A — 21 Oct 2007
I was familiar with the Scholls from a movie I saw at camp as a teenager, called Die weisse Rose, which told the same basic story. This movie is more well-rounded in its depiction of the ludicrous nature of the Nazis' attempts to control peoples' thought, especially the kangaroo court scene at the end.
..the portrayal of the presiding judge is masterful, also the rapidity of the Scholls' executions and the ease with which the Nazis dispensed of dissent. Not a movie for a light-hearted evening. But tremendously worth watching.
