Review of Sonatine (1993) by Ashley M — 06 Jun 2007
My first Takeshi Kitano film- I expected gratuitous macho bloody violence, but Kitano knows how to hit hard without being heavy. The absence of dialog and his ability to tell so much without words is refreshing and real proof of his artistry.
Of course, I can't leave out that Kitano stars in the film with one of those subtle performances that leave you just confounded but completely convinced and drawn in by his character.
