Review of Somewhere (2010) by Christopher K — 22 Apr 2011
I don't know what it is about Sofia Coppola's long shots in this film. It's unsettling yet engrossing at the same time, I think mainly because I'm so used to how fast everything is now. It's kind of how an indie movie usually feels for me, but with some kind of art film thrown in the mix. It's not going to be for everyone, but it does capture something worth watching. The story is minimal, but the moments are definitely interesting.
Stephen Dorff's character reminds me that everyday kind of feeling of what am I living for, as his job as an actor is just a side thing that just came along. Which as a lot of people who would just revel in it, it's a nice change... And Elle Fanning is also coming in to her own as her own actor and not Dakota's sister more and more for me...
