Since when is sadness a bad thing? Why do people want only happy movies to be made?

This movie, sad as it is, is beautifully told, realistic, emotional, and gripping. Every actor involved was terrific and they never went over-the-top, when they easilly could have. A story about love transforms itself into a story about loss, about depression and desperation, and about those events in life we just can't cope with. I don't see the 'American Beauty' comparisons unless your just commenting on the fact that they are both quality, non-Blockbuster films.
