Review of Sixty Six (2006) by Ben K — 22 May 2008
I'm glad I discoverd this little gem of a movie. Supposedly loosely based on the life story of its director, sixty six is about an unpopular jewish lad from North London who pins all his hopes for glamour and popularity on his epic bar mitzvah.
Unfortunately his bar mitzvah is scheduled for the day of the World Cup Final which means if England make the final ,by the way they were hosting the tournament, no one will show up for Bernie's Bar Mitzvah.
Thus Bernie becomes the only kid on his block rooting for pretty much everybody playing against England. Hilarity ensues. Yeah the ending's a bit sappy but it does show how the beautiful game is world's leading cause of temporary insanity.
