Review of Silver City (2004) by Albert C — 11 Aug 2008
John Sayles' take on political campaigns is probably the worst of his films I've seen, but John Sayles on an off day is still John Sayles. The main plot and lead romantic duo don't work so well, and they lack the believability that fuels a lot of Sayles films.
However, the subplots (which are marketed as the main attraction) with Chris Cooper and Richard Dreyfuss as a surrogate Bush/Cheney team are fun. Cooper's Dubya is great, as is Darryl Hannah as a loopy, vengeful relative.
