I think it is important to understand why this movie is universally loved. It is the story of friendship, hope and that true belief that we can accomplish something grand even even we suck.
We all have that friend who's a dick, yet manages to do something great constantly and also manger to be someone we constantly save despite out wish that they wouldn't do these things.
We all secretly wish we could go to the wine groves of California andjusg relax, au golf, meet someone new and just be a new person.
This is ultimately a life we all know and want and yet secretly wish was more permanent but know of no way to make that work practically.
The wine simply relates to a part of us that wants to be more sophisticated.
