Review of She's Gotta Have It (1986) by Mec R — 17 Mar 2008
Who knew Woody Allen was one of Spike Lee's earliest influences? Lee aims for "Annie Hall" territory in this story of a partner-swapping Manhattanite trying to choose the love of her life between three equally strange men.
But mostly it's about Spike trying to find himself visually and tonally. And thankfully he now regrets the horrible rape scene near the film's end.
