Review of Shazam! (2019) by Majorsloth — 10 Apr 2019
To sum this up, this is the movie BIG with Tom Hanks, but Super HEroes, and that is a perfect foundation to draw inspiration from. With many hero movies arriving, and most involving world-ending situations, this one is refreshing, focusing on the heart of why we like superheroes to begin with.
There is no bright laser cannon in the sky or high-military scenario. Just a young teenager who becomes a superhero and enjoys all the unexpected perks to being one. The comedy is smart, witty, and lands.
The cast is fantastic and the overall look and feel of the film is grounded, but still spectacular. You don't want to miss this one.
