Review of Sex and the Beauties (2004) by Keenan S — 24 Aug 2009
I guess expecting anything remotely close to refinement from Wong Jing would be utterly stupid, but Sex and the Beauties is mediocre even compared to the man's own standards. Here Wong has convinced a rather hot cast to slum it for him, but given them absolutely zilch to work with.
If he'd only thrown in a bit of Elvis Tsui and the usual low-brow schticks, Sex and the Beauties would probably have been tolerable, perhaps even great fun. Wong should in fact be incarcerated for letting us watch all this acting talent go down the drain.
Only Carrie Bradshaw-substitute Athena Chu possesses some sort of charm in this sad snoozefest.
