Review of Sayonara (2015) by Rob M — 29 Aug 2007
While not usually a fan of Marlon Brando besides his stint as Don Vito Corleone in the Godfather, I have to say Sayonara is a very pleasing movie. Filmed in 1957 a few years after the Korean War, its the story of a Korean War fighter pilot re-assigned to Japan.
Where fraternizing with Japanese women is forbidden, we find our hero and his buddies falling head over heals in love anyways. Confronting racism and personal bias over their relationships, they struggle to decide if love does conquer all.
I wouldn't deem this one as a "chick flick" just a really good story with amazing scenery.
