Despite whoopi's bad Afrikaner accent and the best of intentions, the (sometimes) cheesy songs and over-acting made the movie a bit trite. however, khumalo did a brilliant job in her role, and I feel that had american's had a better knowledge of the south african situation, the movie would have gone over much better.
