Review of San Francisco (1936) by Les E — 02 Jun 2012
Nice period film about a romance between Clark Gable and Jeanette MacDonald in the days leading up to the great 1906 San Francisco earthquake. The music, romance and drama in the first part of the film is enjoyable enough, but for my money the film really come to life after the quake hits.
I know for many critics this is a classic, but for whatever reason I've never been that big of a Gable fan and he kind of drags down the enjoyment factor of films for me the same way Tom Cruise does now.
