Review of Salaam Bombay! (1988) by Tom M — 01 May 2008
This is a serious movie which was rated by Roger Ebert as "One of the best films of the year." It is about life on the edge of poverty in Mumbai, and it focuses on several families plus several street kids whose lives cross paths.
Life for these people is one step up from the slum life seen in the movie, "City of Joy," but in either event, I felt like I was looking out a window overlooking the streets of a large Indian city.
