Review of Rudy (1993) by John L — 25 Jul 2009
Rudy is my sentimental favorite movie of all time. I can relate so personally to the story and I see so many similarities between Rudy's character and myself. I know what it feels like to get rejected from Notre Dame and I know the desperation of trying to transfer in.
I've been to a number of locations featured in the movie including where Rudy opens his acceptance letter (my favorite spot on campus). Rudy is a Notre Dame story but it goes far beyond just the specific school.
This movie is for anyone who has ever had the impossible dream. I've seen this movie dozens of times but it still has the same emotional impact on a rewatch than it did the first time I saw it. I understand that this is not even close to the greatest movie ever made, it has its share of flaws, but I have never found more inspiration in a movie before.
I imagine my life would be very different if it weren't for Rudy.
