Review of Romeos (2011) by Jake P — 23 Nov 2018
This German film is focussed on the journey of a gay trans man, who discovers his attraction to men while beginning his transition. It's a slightly outdated movie, and there's quite a bit of transphobic language used by side characters, but there is a happy ending.
What I loved most about the casting and plot is that the protagonist is a masculine trans guy! Most mainstream transmasc representation androgynises or feminises trans men, which this film didn't do.
I'd recommend this film to trans men, provided you prepare yourself beforehand. The protagonist was also shown browsing internet sites for info on phalloplasty and top surgery, which was a detail I appreciated, and he is pre-op.
