Review of Rich Hill (2014) by Sam B — 03 Feb 2015
Scorched and uncertain, each of these three lives presents its own tragic reckoning with one's lot in life and where that leaves a boy in middle school. Distaste crinkles the edge of the viewer's conscience and raises questions that can't easily be answered: why? how? when? What we have here is failure to communicate.
This conversation is a one-way call, not a distress signal but a dirge from an abandoned corner that has not lost all hope-most, but not all. So often the signal flows in the other direction to little purpose; perhaps this latest burst of sound, a soft fury, will bring result.
