Review of Rhinoceros (1974) by Brian S — 05 Jul 2009
A great cinematic showcase of Ionesco's absurd genius. the play is easily one of the weirdest ever written, and this film not only maintains that spirit but also does a nice job making some sense out of it.
an ideal reunion for Mostel and Wilder, although neither character is particularly captivating. in fact none of the characters are particularly captivating--it's just a VERY strange absurdist comedy/social commentary.
it's enjoyable, but not for any concrete, laugh-out-loud reasons.
