Review of Return of the Secaucus Seven (1980) by Samuel B — 21 Mar 2011
Sayles' first is more interesting for the films that follow it, the reunion genre and Sayles' later work all hinted at in a somewhat unsuccessful effort here. Clunky stage dialog and clunky delivery hamper some scenes, but there is very little happening in the first act and the ending really doesn't work.
there is a nice middle which reminds you of films where the writer was funnier or more introspectivve.
