Review of Raavanan (2010) by Fleming J — 02 Jul 2010
Typical Mani Rathnam film - persistent twilight-mode lighting, full-on, staged cinematography and dialogue delivery, dizzying camera work, and an obtrusive soundtrack that frequently gobbles up dialogue time .
.. I thought this guy had hit a sweet spot with AYUTHA EZHITHU and could only go higher from there but it looks like he's back to his style-over-substance ways. And these modernization/adaptation scripts that don't push the envelope are quite tiring by now.
