I think the positives of this movie are that it is technically a spectacle and almost everything you've come to expect from Mani Ratnam...The setback was that that Mani Ratnam's attempt to retell another epic hindu legend with a modern treatment didn't connect with the crowd.

..a major reason for this was the poor character development and weak plot build around the chase for an outlaw who abducts a police officer's wife...Potential was there but alas, not achieved...
