Review of Quiet City (2007) by Daryl C — 04 Aug 2008
Rather determinedly "little" movie, but charming nevertheless, and of the so-called "mumblecore" generation, Aaron Katz seems to be someone with a strong sense of pace and structure, as well as a visual sensibility.
There are times when there's one too many cuts to the cityscape shown at twilight, with the glinting shifts of light. It's awfully pretty but it gets too postcard-ish. But this is a lovely film from a promising young filmmaker.
