Review of Privilege (1967) by Oliver S — 27 Jun 2008
Yay - Paul Jones, of Brit rock group Manfred Mann, stars as a govt-manufactured celebrity, in Peter Watkins's cynical take on Beatlemania and pop culture hysteria, and how it could be used by elites to manipulate the public.
Good stuff, cult classic, not officially available on DVD -- bootlegs exist, though. The Sundance Channel has been featuring it with very clear, crisp picture quality. A proper DVD release with English subtitles is woefully overdue! Brilliant premise.
