Review of Prelude: Dog Star Man (1962) by Garry J — 06 Jun 2007
This film explores what Brakhage calls "closed eye vision". The first in his Dog Star Man series, ths is an experimental film that has no sound and a kaleidoscope of images with flashing colours, superimposed images and kinetic editing that can be best described as trippy.
Not an easy film to watch even though it's 25 minutes long but with patience and an appreciation for unique experimental film, I loved the sheer energy of it.
