Review of Philomena (2013) by Laurent P — 19 Apr 2014
Those nasty nuns, beautifully acted movie, Judi Dench is excellent and didn't win the oscar because you expect this performance from her. Coogan is best when he plays a serious role like this one, no joking around or slapstick, just good acting.
He reminds me of Steve Carrel who is also best when he's serious.Coogan is a lapsed catholic and he ask why would God give us these parts of our body and then told we weren't supposed to use them.
As Marx said an opiate for the masses.
