Review of Phil the Alien (2004) by Aynsley B — 27 Sep 2007
This is one of the funniest movies ever, and everyone I've forced to see it loves it. There's something about the bizarre modesty of the whole thing, and about Phil, a shy, cute, and not always very smart alien, and the way he manages to bring all sorts of weird, sometimes unattractive, sometimes downright evil people together.
And don't we all really believe that the US has a top secret anti-alien military base behind Niagara Falls? I mean, I'd never thought of it before I saw this, but doesn't it make total sense? Now the agents in coloured fur coats and their very gay boss with a dolphin obsession are a little harder to swallow, but who expects spies who deal with aliens to be totally normal?
