Review of Phil Spector (2013) by Allan C — 26 Mar 2013
Al Pacino may have the title role, but the real star of this film is Helen Mirren, who plays Spector's attorney and a close second is writer/director David Mamet's typically sharp and terse dialogue, which is always a treat.
However, that's not to diminish Al Pacino's fascinating portrait of Spector as something of a dark and mentally unbalanced genius. At 90 minutes it's a tight film that actually surprised me when it was over.
I was ready to stay with these characters much longer. Regardless of whether the film was an accurate portrait of events, this was a fascinating film that's well worth watching wether you're familiar or interested in Spector or not.
